Academic members of this department are active in research and education in the following areas: food microbiology, food chemistry, milk hygiene and technology, meat hygiene and inspection, food g hygiene and quality control, food industry of animal origin, aquaculture and aquatic animal disease and epidemiology. The research and educational activities of the department are held in laboratories that act as reference labs in the province. These laboratories are frequency busy with analysis of the samples submitted from the clinic and public or private sectors in the field of food quality control. This department is also actively involved in post-graduate programs including M.Sc. and Ph.D. Food Hygiene.
